Into The Wild

Published by guffman at 9:36 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Into the Wild is a movie based on the true story of Chris McCandless, a guy I remotely knew at Emory. When he graduated, he gave away all his money, lost all contact with his family and headed out West. Changing his name to Alex Supertramp, he intended to make his way to Alaska to lead a Waldenesque life. He succeeded with tragic results. After Chris’ death, John Krakauer wrote a best-selling book recounting his journey through interviews with the people Chris encountered. Sean Penn has adapted the book into this pretty awesome movie. Emile Hirsch does a great job as Chris, and Hal Holbrook is outstanding in a supporting role. This movie moved me like few others have.
